This policy covers Vintage Astro products: the vintageastro.com newsletter website and the Android mobile app. Where practices differ, sections below say so.

Newsletter website (email editions)

Free preview vs paid

After you enter birth details and consent on the website, Vintage Astro computes and shows your natal chart and one real daily layer in the browser at no charge. We store your birth profile so you can return to checkout later. Paid plans (annual, monthly, or a one-time natal dossier) are processed by Stripe and unlock email editions.

What we collect

For paid email editions we collect your email, Stripe customer/subscription identifiers when you subscribe, consent timestamp, and the birth profile needed to compute a horoscope: date, local time, timezone, place label, latitude, longitude, and time accuracy. If you use Sign in with Google on the subscribe page, Google shares your verified email and account identifier with us so we can create or link your Vintage Astro account (web and mobile). We store a Google subject id on your subscriber row; we do not receive your Google password.

Why we collect it

We use this data to compute your chart, verify paid access when subscribed, and send personalized daily Vintage Astro editions by email.

Processors

Stripe processes payments. Brevo sends transactional emails. Hetzner hosts the API and subscriber database. Cloudflare hosts the public website and DNS.

Your rights and retention

You can request export or deletion of your subscriber data by emailing [email protected]. Deletion removes the subscriber row, birth profile, cached chart files, and layer cache where applicable.

Active subscribers can update payment details or cancel through the Manage subscription page, which opens Stripe Customer Portal.

We keep active subscriber records while the service is active and retain only minimal operational records after cancellation where required for accounting or fraud prevention.

Mobile app (Android)

The mobile app calculates charts and daily readings from birth details you provide. You may use the app without signing in; optional Sign in with Google links your chart to the same Vintage Astro account used on the website. A Play Store listing is coming soon; the current demo build is distributed outside the store.

On-device storage

Your birth profile (date, time or inferred time, place label, latitude, longitude, timezone, optional display name, and rising-quiz choices when used) is stored on your device (AsyncStorage). Reminder preferences (enabled flag and local hour) are also stored on device. When you sign in with Google, we store a session token on device so you stay signed in; your birth profile may also be synced to your subscriber row on our servers.

Chart compute via API

Chart math and readings are computed by our API at https://api.vintageastro.com (hosted on Hetzner). When you cast a chart or load a reading, the app sends the birth details needed for that request—typically birth date, time, time accuracy, place label, latitude, longitude, timezone, and any rising-quiz fields required for the request—over HTTPS. Place search uses our geocode endpoints with the place text you type.

The API returns chart and reading results for display in the app. The app does not sell this data. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the current mobile build.

Notifications

Optional daily reminders use on-device scheduling (expo-notifications). They are local device notifications, not push messages from our servers. If you enable reminders, the OS may ask for notification permission. Reminder timing preferences stay on the device.

Retention and deletion (app)

On-device birth data and reminder prefs remain until you reset the chart in Settings or uninstall the app (which clears local storage). After a reset, the app stops using the previous profile for new requests. Server-side request logs or short-lived compute caches, if any, are operational and are not a mobile account profile.

Processors (app-related)

Hetzner hosts the chart/reading API. Cloudflare hosts this website (including this policy) and related DNS. Google processes Sign in with Google when you choose it. The newsletter processors (Stripe, Brevo) apply to website email subscriptions; they are not required for the mobile chart flow unless you also subscribe by email.

Security

API and website traffic use HTTPS. Do not share birth details you are uncomfortable transmitting for chart calculation.
